Linda Marie Kennedy-Kemp Friday, October 11, 1940 - Wednesday, July 5, 2017
Linda Marie Kennedy-Kemp, age 76 of Fredericktown, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at the Stockhoff Memorial Nursing Center in Fredericktown. She was born on October 11, 1940 to Alvis Louis and Myrtle Virginia (Cooper) Shafer in Shafer Holler at the family home in Saco, Missouri where the home still stands. On December 14, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri she was united in marriage to Kenneth Delmar Kemp who preceded her in death on May 14, 1982. Her parents, sister, Pat Hinkle and nephew, Westley Kemp.
Those surviving includes: one son & daughter-in-law - Roger & Shelley Reagan-Kemp of DeSoto, Missouri two grandchildren - Brandon Kemp of DeSoto and Amanda (Beau) Gouvreau of Cedar Hill, Missouri and great-granddaughter - Reagan Nicole Gouvreau also of Cedar Hill; three brothers & sisters-in-law - Donald & Betty Kemp of Williamsville, Missouri, Dane & Karen Greer of Coldwater, Missouri and Bob & Joan Hardin of Saco; three nieces - Charlotte, Carla and Kim and three nephews - Dewayne, Walley and Marvin.
Linda became a nurse and later worked in the bakery at IGA in Fredericktown making beautiful all occasion and wedding cakes; her and her husband Kenneth owned and operated Kemp's Rebuilding in Saco until his passing in 1982. She loved going to Branson, Missouri and traveling out West; working on crafts, talking on the phone; going to auctions, yard sales and cooking was something she truly enjoyed. Company was always welcome and encouraged to eat when visiting. She was a member of Eastern star Chaper 128 and past Worthy Matron. She was a Christian woman with a very giving heart and loved making other people happy. She was especially proud of her two grandchildren and great- granddaughter and loved spending time with them.
Visitation will be from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown with Eastern Star service at 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Rauls officiating. Internment will be at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery near Saco. Memorial contributions are suggested to Safe Harbor Hospice.
